However, as of 2025, thanks to new regulations, licensing updates, and improvements by local authorities, transportation in Phuket has become significantly easier. Today, tourists have access to various modern and traditional transport options that make navigating the island simple and stress-free.
Below is the most up-to-date guide to getting around Phuket, including the best transportation methods, who they are for, and what to expect.
Online taxi services were previously restricted in Phuket, but new laws now allow travelers to use ride-hailing apps freely across the island.
