Railay Beach Illuminated Clear Kayak and Bioluminescence Experience
At Freebird Paddle Co., we offer a guided evening paddle from Railay Beach using 100% clear kayaks illuminated with specialized LED lights. This 2-hour group experience begins around sunset and continues after dark, combining paddling beneath Railay's limestone cliffs with the chance to observe marine life and naturally occurring bioluminescent plankton.
Our guides lead the group along Railay Bay, passing beneath cliffs and exploring sections with caves, caverns and stalactites. As darkness falls, the lights beneath the clear kayaks illuminate the shallow water before we switch the lights off to look for the natural glow of bioluminescent plankton.
Experience Itinerary
- Arrive at our Freebird Paddle Co. shop approximately 10 minutes before departure for check-in and life jacket fitting.
- 18:00 - Walk together to the beachfront for an introduction to the guides, equipment and paddling.
- Begin paddling across Railay Bay as the sun sets.
- Paddle beneath limestone cliffs and explore caves, caverns and stalactite formations along the route.
- After dark, use the illuminated clear kayak to observe the water and marine life below.
- Lights are switched off when conditions allow to observe bioluminescent plankton in the water.
- 20:00 - Paddle back to Railay Beach and finish the experience.
