Hidden Forest Elephant Reserve is an ethical elephant sanctuary located in the lush hills of Chalong, Phuket. Established in 2023, the sanctuary was co-founded by renowned Thai elephant specialist P’Kong and elephant welfare advocate Louise Rogerson, who has dedicated more than 16 years to rescuing and rehabilitating Asian elephants across Southeast Asia.
Home to rescued elephants that previously worked in logging, riding, and tourism industries, Hidden Forest focuses on providing a peaceful environment where elephants can live naturally, rebuild social bonds, and enjoy a life free from exploitation. The sanctuary follows a strict no-riding, no-shows, and no-bathing policy, allowing elephants to express their natural behaviors without unnecessary human interference.
Visitors can observe elephants roaming freely through forested habitats, socializing, bathing in ponds, and playing as part of a natural herd. Small group sizes ensure a respectful and educational experience while minimizing stress on the animals. Guests also have the opportunity to learn about elephant welfare, conservation, and the individual stories of the sanctuary’s rescued residents.
Hidden Forest Elephant Reserve is widely recognized for its commitment to compassionate tourism, high welfare standards, and its mission to create a better future for captive elephants through education, rehabilitation, and responsible wildlife experiences.
